Buffalo Christian’s 5 questions with Merced Molnar Leiker

> What is your occupation or thing you’re most passionate about? By day I’m a research technician combating cardiovascular disease. By night I’m an intercessory prayer warrior and worship artist with a vision to unite the church in all her gifts and truly surrender all she is to the Lord so she can be used most effectively by Him to serve Him and show Him to a lost and dying world. I also sell skincare products on the side.

> What do you think of ‘the church’ in Western NY? From my limited perspective, I see various churches joining hands in service and worship and that’s great– I’d like to see more of it. I think overall the true church of God in WNY is doing ok, but her passion for the Lord in worship and prayer as well as in reaching out in sacrificial service and evangelism to her neighbors could definitely be ramped up, especially as we are due for a revival here. I don’t think God wants us to be just “ok.”

> What church or ministry would you recommend people check out, and why? I’m biased, but I would have people check out The Vine Wesleyan Church in Depew. We love one another and are concerned about helping our community, as evidenced by what our congregation did with the $100 given to each single person or family recently. We also operate on faith: It was a huge step of faith to give out $100 bills, as it was a huge step of faith to move into the building we’re in now, whose monthly budgeting costs are double that of where we were previously. We are growing and thriving and have expanding ministries with a great worship arts ministry and children’s program, among so many others, so it’s a really neat place to be involved in right now.

> What would you like to see change, for the better, in Western NY? I would like to see Buffalo become a vibrant active city once again, to be lifted out of its spiritual and economic turmoil and moral decline. I’d like to see the West Side and East Side be safe neighborhoods again, with many finding hope and peace in Christ. I’d like to see that all come about starting with the church and revival.

> What advice would you give to Christians who are struggling in some way? I know it’s easy to get quagmired in the here and now of your pain and struggle, but God does have a bigger plan and there is a reason for your suffering. He sees your pain and counts every teardrop, and the purpose of it all is for you to draw closer and closer to Him in your love relationship with Him, to learn more and more Who He really is, and find hope and healing in worshiping Him when you can’t even find the strength to sing; to set your sight on Heaven and the reward to come, and watch– as time goes by– how He changes you, others, and your circumstances and so reveals to you the awesome plan He has for your life. (Jer. 29.11, 33.3)
